The
Concert Chorale of Nashville is returning to St. Henry for what promises
to be another spectacular musical concert. CCN, under the direction of Ms.
Sherry Hill Kelly, will present VOICES OF SPRING, on Sunday, April 27 at
3:00 p.m. featuring a work by American composer, Ron Kean called
American Mass. The inspirational work is built on the form of the
Missa Brevis but is interwoven with hymns and spirituals. CCN will be
joined by special guests from Antioch High School, under the
direction of Connie McCain in presenting American Mass.
Mrs. McCain has selected singers from the school's Ensemble and Show Choir
for this event. This joint choral performance is the first of what is hoped
will become an annual event hosted by the Concert Chorale with Metro
Nashville high school choirs, promoting the exposure of students to
classical vocal music through combined concert experiences.
Other selections on the
program by the Concert Chorale are Motet VI "Lobet den Herrn" (J. S.
Bach) and the Hymn to St. Cecilia (Benjamin Britten).
The
Antioch High School combined choir will perform Omnia Sol (Randall
Stroope) and O My Luve's Like a Red, Red Rose (Rene Clausen).
The
winner of the 2008 CCN $1,000.00 Vocal Scholarship will be announced during
the concert.
Tickets are $10 at the door and proceeds from the concert support the
Concert Chorale of Nashville’s scholarship program for high school seniors
who are seeking a music career at the college level. For more information
please call 373-5170 or 356-1045. Or, visit the CCN web site at
