Youth Ministry:

This vital ministry includes both a JR. CYO for 7th & 8th graders and a SR. CYO for high school students. Vespers are held on Sunday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Youth Office for Sr. CYO students, who are themselves in charge of the program format. Once a month at the 5:00 p.m. Saturday Vigil Mass, our youth participate as lectors, ushers, eucharistic ministers, as well as helping with the musical presentation.

The St. Henry CYO has as its central purpose the bringing of church community to all its teenagers, thereby making them feel a special part of this parish. Our youth ministry promotes events such as Youth Week with experiences of service and interaction, through spiritual, athletic and social activities.

THERE ARE MANY WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT PARTICIPATION THROUGHOUT THE CALENDAR YEAR. THIS IS BOTH GREATLY NEEDED AND ALWAYS APPRECIATED FOR ALL JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL YEARS.

From a giant Garage Sale to "Mud Volleyball", wrapping gifts for families in need to going caroling or bowling together --- whether it’s Fall Retreat at Camp Marymount, a ski trip to Indiana or just playing basketball on Sunday afternoons, these are fine opportunities for kids to get to know one another. Movie outings, a theme dance and party or even an occasion with the Bishop for a special Mass and day of fun, provide time for the goodness of being together socially and spiritually.

Our youth often take advantage of helping with young children in the Sunday School of Religion, and they can also be found serving supper to the hungry and homeless at Room-in-the-Inn. With parent involvement, they have even worked with Habitat for Humanity.
