HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - CATHOLIC BUILD - FALL 2026
This fall, St. Henry Church is partnering with the Cathedral of the Incarnation on a Habitat for Humanity build. Together, we will support Habitat for Humanity’s mission and help empower families through affordable homeownership.
We are grateful to the Knights of Columbus Council 12012 for helping make this opportunity possible for our parish.
Below, you’ll find important information about ways to participate in the build as a volunteer or donor. Keep scrolling to read about the family that will own the home. We look forward to pouring our love and support into this project.
Volunteer at the bulid
Two Weekends to Volunteer: St. Henry is seeking adult volunteers to actively participate in hands-on work at the build site alongside professionals and fellow parishioners. No prior construction experience is necessary; all that is required is a willingness to learn and follow instructions. The build dates are scheduled for October 24, 25, 31, and November 1. About 50 volunteers are needed.

Help Furnish the Home: St. Henry has reached our parish goal of $18,000 toward the construction of the Habitat for Humanity home. Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible. About the Family: Lakita is a Nashville native who has dedicated herself to providing for her family while continuing to pursue her own personal and professional goals. She is the proud mother of three children, including a college student, a rising high school senior, and her youngest, who brings energy and joy to their home. Their family also includes Benji, their 1-year-old chihuahua.
Lakita works full-time as an account representative at a healthcare IT company, where she has been employed for nearly six years. In addition to her full-time role, she is also enrolled in school, working toward a certificate in medical coding as she continues to build a more stable financial future for her family.
Housing Need: For the past eight years, Lakita and her family have lived in the same apartment, but the limitations of renting have made it difficult to achieve long- term stability. While she was previously pre-approved to purchase a home through traditional financing, she was unable to find an option that met the needs of her household.
Lakita applied to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville because she saw it as a realistic path to affordable homeownership. She is seeking a stable place where her family can grow without the uncertainty of rising rent and limited control over their living space.

Future Aspiration: Homeownership represents an important step forward for Lakita and her family. She hopes to build community, provide a stable place for her children to thrive, and strengthen her family’s financial future through more predictable housing costs.
